From Ego to Eco

This interactive sculpture merges various ecosystems into one tabletop landscape to address the human-nature relationship. When standing next to the piece, viewers look down upon the land, as is common in many industrialized countries and cultures. But when viewers kneel and become a part of the sculpture through the head opening, they can "join" the natural world. This act of physically joining a representation of the land we depend upon aims to deepen the participant's relationship to the land by seeing it as a part of and connected to us rather than something separate from us.

This was my final project at The Oxbow School. The accompanying paper can be found here.
